What is a Duathlon?

A duathlon combines running and cycling in three segments:

  1. Run 1: A fixed-distance run
  2. Bike: A specified cycling route
  3. Run 2: A second run, typically half the distance of the first

Race Routes

Run 1 (5 km): Route Map

  • Starting at the Eiffel Tower parking area, participants will run a 2.5 km loop, passing landmarks within Bahria Town.
  • The route features wide, well-paved roads with moderate inclines and scenic surroundings.
  • At the end of the loop, runners will make a U-turn and retrace the same path to the transition area for the biking segment.

Bike (20 km): Route Map

  • Cyclists will complete two loops on a ~10 km stretch of road.
  • The route starts from the transition area, leading to the Bahria Expressway with U-turns at designated checkpoints for each loop.
  • The cycling segment includes a mix of straight roads, gentle curves, and minor gradients, offering a balanced challenge.
  • After the second loop, participants will return to the transition area to begin the final run.

Run 2 (2.5 km): Route Map

  • The final leg is a shorter 1.25 km out-and-back loop, starting from the transition area.
  • Participants will head toward the Eiffel Tower and follow a marked path, featuring flat and slightly shaded sections.
  • At the turnaround point, they will head back to the finish line at the Eiffel Tower parking lot.

Transition Area

The transition area is the hub for switching between race segments. Key rules:

  • Athletes must wear and securely fasten the helmet before removing the bike from the rack.
  • Similarly participants must not remove the helmet before the bike is mounted back on the rack.
  • No cycling is allowed within the transition area.
  • Team participants must use the designated tag box to hand off between legs.
  • Both participants of a tag team cannot be outside the transition area at the same time during the course of the race.

Failure to follow these rules may result in disqualification.

Event Rules

  • Equipment: Use a roadworthy bicycle; no e-bikes allowed.
  • Timing: Wear bibs visibly; results are based on bib timing.
  • Sportsmanship: Respect fellow participants and volunteers; unsportsmanlike behavior will lead to disqualification.
  • Age: Minimum age is 14 years (parental consent required for 14–18-year-olds).
For detailed rules, refer to the event page.

Support & Amenities

  • Hydration: Water stations at strategic points along the routes.
  • Bike Mechanic: Assistance available at the transition area (time spent on repairs counts toward race time).
  • Grievance Committee: A dedicated team will address participant concerns during the event.

Athletes who are unable to attend the event in person have the option to participate virtually, earning a spot on the overall leaderboard and a coveted finisher medal.

  • Eligibility: Virtual participation is available only for the Solo Sprint category.

  • Prize Money: Virtual participants are not eligible for prize money.
